love is a dangerous game
She ran. She ran until her lungs started burning and her legs were ready to give in. What she would cover with her legs in all these minutes would never give her a head start on the distance her master's horses could, but there was a part of her that had the secret hope that they wouldn't even notice she was gone. She was, after all, a simple thrall. She was the most replacable person to excist, probably. Not that she would wish this on anyone else either but...

Sigrid stopped and let the weight of her tired body lean against a tree, where she attempted to catch her breath whilst simultaneously enjoy the first fresh air she had had in months. Okay, she didn't think this through, that was something that was clear now. On the other hand, it would simply have been foolish not to take the leap of fate and use the gate left open by one of the guards. It couldn't have been a coincidence that Sigrid spotted that all the way from the kitchen. For the sake of all the Gods, the smell of that kitchen was still on every inch of her body, reminding her of how she hated that place. Even though there was no sign of anyone chasing after her, she couldn't afford a long rest. Reluctantly, she pushed herself away from the tree as she somehow managed to get her feet to carry on again. Despite this best effort of hers, it didn't last for a long time. Sigrid had just begun running again when she tripped, a sharp pain in her ankle as a result. A small scream came from her lips as she tried to get up again, and then a sigh. She didn't have time for this... She quickly inspected what had caused the pain and soon came to find that her foot had got stuck in a rabbit hole. Knowing she had to move on, Sigrid clenched her teeth together and managed to wiggle her way out. However, there was still one problem now: she couldn't really run any further with a bruised or even broken ankle. She couldn't give up. Not now. Sigrid knew her only chance was to find shelter. A place she could hide and recover until she could make it to the docks on her own and catch the very first ship back home. To Skagen.

The dusk was a good and a bad thing at the same time: it would both make it harder for the guards to spot her and harder for her to seek refuge, which she had to do before dark. As if her prayers had been answered, she saw what looked like the farming area of Uddevalla. If she could just find an empty barn or anything... She whispered a quick thank you to about all the Gods she could think of before labouriously heading towards the settlement.

Finally, she found out that the stables were empty. She was so tired, she immedeatly sat down against the piles of hay stacked on one side of the space. Before she could command herself not to, her eyelids shut. Alright then... Maybe she could finally get some rest now. Right before she could fall into a deep sleep, the sound of oncoming footsteps woke her right up. Sigrid froze, her fingers clinging to the handle of the knife she had slipped inside her belt before escaping the kitchen. All she could hope for now was that the person approaching would either be a lot weaker than her or not the Uddevallian resident that was the most loyal to their king.

The sun pierced through the windows of Redra's little house. The girl opened her eyes and the last pictures that flashed through her mind few moments before, appeared again in front of her eyes. Since she was little, she dremt those strange and confused dreams, but she knew she was lucky enough to dream bright and colourful pictures. On the other hand, her sister was used to wake up in fear because of her nightmares. Although the pictures they used to dream were too confused to actually make sense, the twins knew that those dreams were gifts from the Gods so they never thought they were meaningless or useless and they grew up being proud of their abilities, or at least Redra was.
She got up and stretched her arms, ready to start another usual day at the farm.

After her simple breakfast, she immediately went to her farm to check on the plantations and take care of them. It was a pretty normal day at the farm and Redra really liked her ordinary life, with her habits and her overall normal things to do. She actually never wished of a different life because she was pretty satisfied with what she had. Also, being able to heal people and knowing perfectly how to do it, was an important source of pride to the girl.

Different hours went by and the girl was still taking care of her plants, while whistling and humming some songs by herself, when she heard some noises in the horse stables nearby. At first, she wasn't intrested in the sound that came from there, because she immediately associated it with the horses that were supposed to be inside, but then remembered that that place was supposed to be completely empty. Few hours before, the owner of the horses brought them somewhere she didn't know and she hadn't seen him bringing them back yet. Something was off and Redra's curiosity took over her rationality. She left her tools on the ground and headed towards the stables with her brows furrowed, determined to find who the intruder was. She wasn't the best fighter, but she definitely could defend herself, she wasn't afraid of getting hurt and even if she was going to get hurt, she knew exactly what to do to heal herself. Despite her confidence in her skills, she decided to be as quiet as possible, trying to walk on the ground covered with straw with the lightest steps she could take. Redra took a faster and louder step when she turned a corner, trying to surprise the intruder but no one was there. She then repeated the same dance a couple of times, failing miserably again and again. The girl was pretty sure she heard sounds coming from that place, she was more than determined to find out who was hiding so well inside the stables and if he or she was doing something wrong, Redra would've stopped them. She was more pacific and understanding than the average Uddevallian resident, but if there was one thing she couldn't stand, that was when people behaved badly, especially when someone she knew was involved. She turned another corner stepping fast again and almost immediately noticed something, or better someone who wasn't supposed to be there. She moved as fast as she could, assuming that the girl was probably harmed, while she herself wasn't. She knew she needed to think and act fast, at least to confuse the girl. She managed to go behind the her and to block the intruder's arms with hers and just then noticed the girl had a knife. She couldn't do anything about it in that position, so she just tried to stay cold and calm. "Who are you?" Redra asked in a low and almost intimidating voice.
