If I had a heart I could love you ,
If I had a voice I would sing.

The amount of adrenaline rushing through his body was not imaginable. In all those years, hearing the stories about the great Ragnar Lothbrok Ivar wanted nothing else then to do the same, to conquer, to succeed. And because of Floki he could. Because of Floki he sat here on his very own chariot. Alsvinn was a tempered horse, his hooves scrapped in the grass as then all stood lined up on the other side of the village they would raid. With his arms crossed over the seat his sat on he gazed over to the village, knowing Ubbe would be somewhere on the other side doing exact the same. He longed for the screams of battle, even with the fact he was a cripple Ivar didn’t saw his changes any different from the rest of the raiding group. He looked aside to Floki who stood aside his chariot, eyes crossing his chuckled into himself with a big grin before he slowly looked back to the village.

It was when he heard the first scream that they all came in action, his elder brother giving the command before they all started running towards the village. Alsvinn snorted and Ivar took his reins in his hands, kicking them against the horse that started cantering, a canter that turned in a gallop while everybody of the Vikings ran in front of him. Defenseless people tried to escape from the village, only to stumble into the other half of the Viking party. Ivar grabbed his axe, pushing his up as he shouted in excitement as Alsvinn knocked a men against the ground like it was nothing. He saw a Viking come right at him and he threw the axe, hitting him right between the eyes, he started laughing, galloping through the muddy slight frozen streets until he met with the other part of the army, seeing his eldest brother kicked down by … Björn. ‘Hooo.’ Ivar stopped the horse and looked at both his brothers, smiling on the sight before he turned his attention back to the fight, throwing a one of the knifes he let the blacksmith make towards a group of fighters trying attacking Floki. His knife hit one man in the neck. Ivar looked to the man that was more his father over the years that Ragnar ever would be. He would stick at Floki his side, learning, embracing, conquering together.

The day had finally come. The day for Ragnar’s sons to raid and conker just like their father had once done. And just like with Ragnar today he stood at the side of one of his son’s. One he held very dear to his hard. Ivar looked glorious on the Chariot. It seemed as if the carriage just mirrored the strong and mighty power the boy really held in him. And he couldn’t help but stare at the boy in the chariot with a straight and serious look. Knowing that soon that boy would finally be able to spread his wings. The only question was how high he would fly. He did hope that one day Ivar would reach the sun. Be the man he was destined to be. Floki his body shivered in excitement at the thought as he then looked straight at the small village the brothers had chosen to raid. Even if he had seen bigger cities, stronger holds. Floki was excited to be raiding today. Even if this one village was quite pathetic. It held great meaning to him and the boy next to him. He hoped up and down just twice as the blood and adrenaline started to flow through his body. He might be just a little bit too excited. Waiting for the sign seemed to take hours. In his head at least as in real life it only took a few seconds.

Before he knew it, before anyone knew it the raid set in motion. The group started to move, people started to run past him as his eyes went to the chariot. A mischievous but pleased look falling in his grey eyes as he suddenly smirked and then let out a laugh. Before he started to run himself. Moving with the wave of warriors as they entered the small village. Two sides being attacked and just as Ivar had planned the one’s trying to escape ran right in their arms. And before he knew it his axe cut through the soft flesh of his first victim oof the day. Blood spatting in his face, making only more adrenaline run through his veins. As a sly fox, or snake he moved through the people, cutting down anyone who came in his way as he made his own way back to the chariot. Getting as close as he could. His eyes moved to a figure he knew very well. “Björn…” The whisper left his lips as he stared at the scene. Feeling something fall over him seeing the men he had watched grow up from child on. He still remembered the day he met Björn. He had tried to scare him with wearing a mask he had made and he believed he did pretty well. He remembered the look Björn had given him as Ragnar had stood there smiling. How long that seemed to be.

But here his mind had no time to wander and his attention got pulled back to a group of men coming his way. An angry look coming on his face as he hissed lightly. But he was not afraid. As they came he swung his axe in a wild manner, hopping away from one and blocking another attack. Soon slitting one’s throat and kicking the man he had avoided in the back, throwing him in another group and then, before he knew it another man fell down before him. A knife sticking out from his throat. He let out a light laugh as his head slowly turned to look at Ivar. Their eyes meeting for just a second, a mischievous proud grin coming on the old man his lips. Before he kneeled down and pulled the knife out of the dead man’s throat. Playing with it and letting it move through his fingers as he made his way to Ivar. Soon standing next to the chariot as he held out the knife to the boy. It balancing on his palm as he looked in those icy cold blue eyes. ”Thank you Ivar.” He said. ”That was very thoughtful of you.” He continued, but then soon looked to the side. Getting another playful smirk on his lips as he looked over the fighting.

”Even though, I could have done it myself.” He gave the boy a serious look, but it broke down soon in a laugh as he jumped up a bit and rubbed Ivar’s hair. Soon warping an arm around the boy’s shoulders. ”I hope you’re enjoying this Ivar.” He said and looked back at the boy. Giving him a meaningful look. Before he moved down from the chariot in time as another man ran right into him. His axe directly sticking in the man his shoulder as he screamed. Floki got the wild look back in his eyes as he started to butcher the man like he would do with a wild animal.

If I had a heart I could love you ,
If I had a voice I would sing.

Not far before they left Floki revealed his work to Ivar and while he didn’t realized it in the beginning … he knew it was perfect. That first ride on the chariot, the wind shifting aside his body under the speed, the sound of the reins kicking against his horse to motivate it, it was such a powerful feeling. Ivar shouldn’t be encouraged on this surface, it wouldn’t turn out for the best and yet he felt that rush going through his body, he felt that confident arrogant smirk slipping over his face, he felt that security. He was a son of Ragnar and yet again he proved that, they couldn’t stop him and only that little detail was enough for him to rage into war with the most of violence brewing in his body.

While his horse galloped through that village his blue eyes crossed with something entirely different, his half-brother, Björn. It seemed that Björn showed up everywhere, even on the bad times. Squeezing his eyes a little together he could feel that tensing around both his brothers from miles away. There wouldn’t be much raiding for Ubbe if Björn would keep standing there. Not wanting to be part of it Ivar turned his chariot, pointing his attention rather on a man to kill then a brother to defend. The group that attacked Floki slimmed with one man as he throw his knife. His eyes crawled eagerly over the old man as he slayed the other men before their eyes crossed one another. The proud grin made Ivar in a way warm inside and his smile grew to, an eager one. He hushed his horse to keep still as Floki took the knife and walked over to the chariot and offered him the knife back with some words. Ivar grabbed the knife and looked down to Floki. He only nodded, looking down over his own knife that he twisted in his fingers before following Floki his gaze over the raid. When Floki stated he could do that himself he started chuckling, even with the serious gaze. His laugh grew bigger as Floki stroke his hand through his hair. ‘Very much.’ He answered, looking how Floki started killing a man. Not only killing him, butchering him until there was nothing left. Ivar his tongue stroke over his lower lip, tilting his head in a chuckle. ‘Very much.’ He repeated himself, kicking the reins as a man went right for his horse, he grabbed his axe, swirling it around his own wrist before he chopped it over his chariot right into the man his chest. He wanted to pulled it out but he felt somebody jump on the chariot, grabbing him from behind. Ivar couldn’t turn that easily so he kicked his head back against the man his face, ignoring the graze over his shoulder from that blade. He took his own knife and stabbed him in the stomach, with clenched teeth he tried on holding the man of stabbing him while that blood slowly left his body, soon he wouldn’t have any power left to keep Ivar in this grip. ‘It’s not nice to attack somebody in the back.’ He hissed with clenched teeth against the man, looking how those eyes slowly lost their courage. ‘Look at you now.’ Ivar laughed with him.

bright red blood spilled from the veins of his enemy spat up upon him. Only to drip down his own bear skin and clothes. The adrenaline rushing though his own veins making his muscles tremble with excitement. It had been a long while since he had felt such a rush. Outside his boat building, praying to the gods and making love to his wife, there was nothing else in the world that could give him such a rush. And while the blood of his enemy might darken while drying on his skin. The adrenaline in his own veins did not flee his body. Especially in such a glorious battle as this one. While making his way through the crowd he took down just a few men. Men that of course were standing in his way. Otherwise he would just pass them, looking for another victim. But even in the fierce fighting his eyes very often slid back to Ivar the boneless. Being well aware of what was going on around him. He could not help it that he wanted to see the boy in this day. How he and his chariot cut through the crowd like it was nothing. Glorious it was indeed to see how the young one cut down the enemies in front of him without any mercy. Promising indeed for the future. But his attention wasn’t only taken by Ivar. For there were other Ragnar’s sons around and well they did not seem as promising as Ivar. In fact the rush he had did cool down looking at Björn and his brother. His eyes darkened and the wicked smirk he had had on his lips disappeared. His eyes narrowing a bit as everything slowed down around him. Watching the scene of the brothers from afar.

But of course his attention had to be pulled back to the place he was now, his own reality and not that of Ragnar’s sons. So as soon as he heard a scream behind him he spun around. Facing a new opponent. Leaning back as an axe just missed his head. He looked quite surprised for a moment as he walked back a bit stumbling. Before going to attack himself. His arm moved up and soon in a swift movement even for his own age it swung down. To be blocked and he was pulled closer to the man he was facing. Being face in face with the man he chuckled and then smiled. His free hand moving to one of the knifes he was hiding. And as the man grinned back at him, his smile faded and a quick stab to the abdomen meant his own freedom. As he then looked quite angry and knocked the men down with a quick head bang. To then slam his axe in the skull of the man he just had faced. Placing his foot on the now dead men. He pulled his axe back out. To see the movement in his eyes. He turned to see how someone had been able to jump behind Ivar. A sight Floki did not enjoy. But instead of going in to help the poor boy. He waited, his eyes just slightly darkening. Oh yes he should help the boy, but he wanted to see how Ivar handled it. Even if that meant taken a risk. Well-meaning he might be playing with the boy’s life.

But a Ivar made quick work of the pest, a satisfied almost proud look fell on him. He was indeed proud, and satisfied that Ivar had grown in such a fine man. A fine Viking and well in his mind he did believe Ivar someday might be a fine leader too. Just like he had thought of Björn and till now, Björn had proved him right without realising. He flipped his axe lightly in the air as he caught it again, before making his way back closer towards Ivar as the boy laughed over his fallen victim. As he was closer to the boy he spoke. ”Very good Ivar, you are learning.” He was teasing the boy of course. And even though the teasing look was clear, he could not hide the proud spark in it either. He rested his arm against the chariot, looking around. There was a lot of blood, bodies and a lot of fighting. Exactly like you would expect of a raid. A lot of the villagers were also already fleeing. How quick time passed when you were having fun. But what he was looking forward too was to see what they would find after the fight.
